I've been bitten by the sock bug

I've cast on two different pairs of socks over the past week; one pair for me, and one pair for a friend. I'm using magic loop for my pair, though I decided to only do one sock at a time, for whatever reason. That was a mistake, in hindsight, since I could have definitely done them two at a time instead of procrastinating on starting the second sock. You'll have to wait to hear more about this pair, unfortunately...they're to remain top secret for right now.
Several years ago, while I was still in high school, I was in a gift exchange and the person who had my name got me a pair of straight size fifteen needles and a ball of hot pink bulky weight yarn. Attached to the needles was a note that said that I had to promise to make him socks with that yarn and those needles. At that point, I had made one sock, and had disliked it so much that I had sworn off sock knitting for the foreseeable future. Regardless, I promised that it would happen sometime, and I finally got around to starting that pair last week.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, for me) for him, I wasn't going to knit socks on size fifteens with chunky yarn, so fingering weight socks on size ones will have to do. I just purchased a pair of nine inch circs, and I deemed those perfect for the job.

The baby circs are a funny thing, but once I got the hang of things I started to scoot right along. I'm not msure how I'm going to do the heel yet...I'll probably switch to a longer cord for that and then go right back to the baby circs. I'm wondering how they'll fare with a more heavily patterned sock, so stay tuned for that experiment! Happy knitting!
