Knitting like a madwoman

I have a secret: I start projects and forget about them completely once I find a better, more interesting project to work on. I feel sort of bad that they've just been living in bags for months and months, only seeing the light of day when I rummage through the bags looking for some lost notion. Then I inadvertently remember why I started the project once I finally see it again, and sometimes I even pick them back up, determined to finish them. This is what happened with the Whorl cowl, and I'm very happy that it's finally off my needles and out in the wild. It's made out of Malabrigo yarn lace, in the color Hollyhock.

It's surprisingly warm, and very tall. I think it ended up blocking out to twenty inches tall or so...which is perfect for me, since I can turn it into a hood if it gets too cold!

Before I finished the cowl, I also finished my Backflip hat, and both of the patterns are now available on Ravelry: mittshat. I loved the yarn that I used, Dream in Color's Smooshy in the color Green Lantern kettle-dyed, and am already planning on using the Smooshy with Cashmere in my next project!

I think the color is truer in the first picture rather than the second. It's a very grassy, perfect green. I only used one skein for this entire set, and I still have a little bit left over! I really loved the tonal tendencies that this yarn had, and am planning on trying a few other Dream in Color bases and colors very soon. Until next time, readers!
