It's finished!

The Everwood wrap is finally finished! It's huge and gorgeous, and I already want to make another one in a different color (probably grey).

Each one of those squares is 1x1, which makes the wrap right around three feet wide and seven feet long. I had to stand on a bar stool just to get a picture with the whole thing in it! I also had to run to the store because I didn't have nearly enough blocking mats to fit it on, which is why over half of the mats have letters on them. Because it was fingering weight, it didn't take long to dry, and I've been wearing it pretty much nonstop since yesterday. It's keeps me the perfect temperature, and the density is really great. It's heavy enough that it sits nicely on my shoulders, but not so heavy that I feel like it's crushing me. If you'd like to make one yourself, here's the pattern! Here's a better picture of the wrap with a grumpy Tot as a bonus:

I also have to talk about the color of this wrap. I am absolutely in love with the bright fuschia color and with the tonal tendencies it had. I used almost all of the two skeins of Miss Babs Tarte that I purchased, and chose not to alternate skeins. I ended up getting fourteen repeats of the pattern out of the yarn instead of the fifteen that I had wanted. I played a mighty game of yarn chicken in the middle of the fifteenth repeat and lost big time, so I had to settle on fourteen repeats. This worked out perfectly since the wrap is the perfect length, so no biggie there. However, I did have one problem with this yarn: it bled to no end. It bled and bled and bled and bled. I probably let that sucker soak at least six times, and it was still bleeding! I ended up calling Miss Babs to see if there was anything that I could do to help the bleeding, and they told me that usually happens with this color of dye. I can live with that, especially since the color is gorgeous, and didn't fade at all through the myriad soakings that it went through! If you don't like excessive bleeding, I'd steer clear of this particular color or variations of it. This particular color was called Mistress, and it was a wild iris.

That's all for now, dear readers! I must get back to trying to finish all my current works in progress so I can finally cast on something new!
