I've found my place

So, let's have a little chat about the knitting community (most of what follows here is probably true for all of the rest of the fiber based communities, but knitting is the one I know best!). Even though I've known how to knit for quite some time, I never really got super into it. It was always just something that I did sometimes when I needed a hat or a pair of gloves. However, more recently, like within the last two years recently, I've discovered an absolute love for all things knitting and even fiber related. I've really started to look forward to having time to knit each night, or even just browse Ravelry or my favorite online yarn store. I started to get more into yarn, and I discovered a love for the natural fibers that I never really got with plain old acrylic. Then, I decided to take it one step further and start this blog; after I did that, I made a new Instagram account and added all of the knitters that I could find. I created my own spot in this community of people who loved to ohh and ahh over yarn and fiber related projects of all sorts. And I'm so glad that I did this, because I have been blown away by the utter love and kindness that absolutely flourishes throughout this community of yarn loving people. I'm inspired every day to try new things with my knitting or take the plunge and start a project that might be a little bit above of my skill level. I'm just so much more interested in learning things about knitting, whether it be weird facts, or a stitch that completely stumped me when I first started knitting (for example: brioche!).

I've also learned that I like to show my work off, and that I shouldn't ever be ashamed to show it off. I want people to ask about it so I can tell them about the craft that I've absolutely fallen in love with. And maybe, just maybe, I can pique their interest in knitting just enough that they want to learn how to do it too. I'd even teach them too, if they ask nicely! I'm just so happy that I've found my place in this wonderful little community, and I want to share it with everyone. I'm more excited than ever to keep learning new things about knitting, and who knows, I might even start diving into other fiber-related crafts as well! (Actually, this is already happening. I bought a drop spindle, and I'm very excited to go down the spinning rabbit hole!)

On another, but still vaguely related note, my brioche hat is coming along well, except for one small problem: it's too big. I decided to go with the medium size, since that's what most of the other Ravelry projects were, but apparently I have a tiny head, since even the medium is too big. I hate to rip and redo, but I love brioche so much that I'm excited to do more brioche. I suppose it is for the best though, since I don't want a hat that's always slipping down my forehead and over my eyes. I did get one and a half pattern repeats done, though! And I'll provide photo proof!

It so lovely and squishy, which is part of the reason that I now want to knit all of my upcoming projects in brioche. I think I'll have to do a shawl next. My shoulders are getting warm just thinking about it! Now to just buy a couple more skeins of DK weight so that it can be done! I'd love to hear about your upcoming projects (brioche or not) down in the comments; I'm always looking to drool over yarn choices and cast ons! Well, until next time, dear readers!
