Reemergence of the salmon yuck

The other day I went through my "nice" yarn stash, and let me tell you, I came up with a lot of lonely random skeins of beautiful yarn that I promptly promised to find projects for; and then I rediscovered the salmon yuck. I don't know what possessed me to buy not one, but two skeins of salmon (nicer term: coral) colored, 100% wool yarn. This wouldn't be such a problem except I don't even really like wearing pink. I don't think it looks all that nice on me, so I tend to gravitate away from it to darker, more flattering colors, like black. The salmon yuck isn't even that nice. It's not something I want to squish up against my face like my skeins of Madelinetosh or Malabrigo. It feels more like a workhorse yarn, something that you would use for a hearty pair of mittens or perhaps even a knitted toy. A knitted toy was actually what I had in mind for it. A pig, to be exact. But then I started thinking about the color, and how I probably wouldn't want a salmon colored pig sitting next to my bed every night. I'm not sure why that's so off putting, but something about that overly fleshy pink color in the form of a pig just isn't a very pretty picture. Maybe I should research pink projects on Ravelry to get some sort of inspiration? Or try to fit it into some sort of colorwork project that I can promptly give away, therefore depositing the salmon yuck on some poor, unsuspecting sap? Maybe I'm being too hard on the poor yarn, not even giving it a fighting chance and all. I could probably increase the softness a little bit by letting it soak in some Eucalan...by the time it's done, perhaps I can come up with a project for it. I could also dabble in felting with it, since it's 100% wool...I wouldn't feel all that bad if I "ruined" it at least. I need to bring it out of its hidey hole in my stash so I'm forced to do something with it. If you have any other ideas, let me know. Anything helps.

Okay, okay. It's not exactly as terrible as I thought. And it actually looks sort of nice within that color scheme...perhaps I feel some inspiration striking?
