Weekend Plans

Other than the endless amounts of homework that I inevitably have planned, I've also got two very important, and very knitterly things happening this weekend. On Saturday, I'm going to my very first knitting class at my recently discovered LYS: Heavenly Stitches. It's actually a quilting shop yarn store combo, and I thought that it just catered to sewers before I was happily proven wrong by a coworker. It's based in Lima, Ohio, and is housed in an old church (which is probably why it has "Heavenly" in the name). It's not an overly large LYS, but the ladies that I've met there are sweethearts, and I've even started going to the sit and stitch that they have there every other Thursday (I'm the youngest one there most nights!). They hold knitting classes every month, and this is the first month that I've been able to go to, so I almost immediately signed up when the ladies mentioned it to me. We're going to work on the Whitefish Ripples pattern (here). They actually include the yarn and the pattern when you purchase the class, and I think that is crazy generous of them! (For those wondering, we are using Cascade Ultra Pima Paints). Many of the other classes that I've looked at taking didn't offer the pattern or the yarn, so it's completely amazing that they offer both! On Sunday, my boyfriend and I have planned a trip to the 21st Annual Wool Gathering (I'm in love with the punny name) that's held at Young's Jersey Dairy in Yellow Springs, Ohio. This will also be another first, and I can hardly wait until Sunday to go. I'm sure that I won't be leaving empty handed, that's for sure! I actually do need to pick up some yarn for the pattern that I'm planning (another first!), but I'm almost positive that all of the other yarn purchases won't be quite as thought out as that one! I'm also in need of a Niddy Notty and some new buttons, and I'm hoping to find both of those things there as well! I've also started toying with the idea of trying to find some mawata (silk hankies) to knit with. I'll most definitely update you all on that search, since that's going to be an exciting adventure in itself! Happy weekend, folks!
