Apologies for the Absence

I know that it's been almost complete silence from me for the last couple of weeks and I do feel bad about that. I do have a reason for the radio silence, however: I decided to go back to school and try out a science track major. Fortunately, if this doesn't work out (which is likely) then I can fall back on the fact that I already have a degree and could, oh I don't know, actually use it to get a job? My first degree is in Creative Writing, and whilst that has at least *some* possibilities, I still wondered about something a little bit more practical and solid, if you will. I have to say though, dear readers, that I don't think I'm quite cut out for this practical and solid life. I appreciate the people that are though, ever so much more now, even though this is my first semester of practicality. Just the sheer amount of homework I have to do every night as a part time student makes me wonder how those science majors get through college (or university) as full time students. I barely have time to knit (which is depressing in itself) or work on a few other projects that I'm much more excited about. Even so, I'm glad that I at least decided to try this and stretch my boundaries. I figure that I'm young yet, and I'm able to bounce back with varying degrees of success. Hopefully I'll be able to update more frequently in the coming weeks, especially since I have some exciting things planned (pattern-making, anyone?) and want to share them with you! Most of my nights now are spent doing homework and pining about my knitting. When I do get to knit, I actually have to put a time limit on it, and stick to it. I suppose this is a wonderful exercise in self-discipline that I didn't actually want. I'm going to stick it out until the end of the semester and then decide if I want to continue...or not. If I had my way, I'd knit and blog and knit some more, but unfortunately that isn't in the cards, at least not right now. Perhaps it will be in the future after I get past all this damn homework. I hope the rest of your week is more knitting (or even fun) filled than mine will be!
